This week the children are coming to the end of their addition and subtraction topic in maths. They have been working really hard on this and at times have found it challenging. That is where the manipulatives come out.

These objects and counters are ‘concrete manipulatives’ that help the children understand the concept behind why you exchange 10 1’s for a ten, or 10 10’s for one hundred.
